Course Overview

In this very popular faculty-led study abroad course, you will study and visit the significant cultural sites that have made Florence & Rome world centers since ancient times. The course brings to life the history, art, architecture, religion, and culture of these magnificent cities. Rigorous academic study is coupled with a great deal of fun…and free time for exploring Florence & Rome and their environs. The course lets you see and experience firsthand what you are learning about. The awesome auras of Florence & Rome, plus a full day excursion to Pompeii, will give you memories that will last a lifetime.

Air & Land Tour Includes

• Roundtrip air transportation from JFK to Florence and return from Rome
• 3 Nights accommodations with private bath in triple room.
• VAT tax at hotel**
• Breakfast in Florence at a nearby hotel restaurant
• Airport transfers on arrival in Florence and departure in Rome
• Transportation by coach from Florence hotel to Rome St John’s Dormitories
• Entrance fees at Uffizzi Gallery
• Escorted full day tour to Pompeii including English speaking guide

** Note that local Florence tax of 2 Euro/night per person has to be paid on departure

Depart JFK for Florence (for those on the Air & Land Package)

Arrival in Florence. Transfer to Alex Hotel (for those on the Air & Land Package). Overnight accommodations

In Florence – Entrance & tour to the Uffizzi Gallery

Monday May 23
In Florence – On Own

Tuesday, May 24
Transfer by coach from the Alex Hotel to the St John Domitories in Rome

Wednesday, May 25
In Rome – On own

Thursday, May 26
In Rome – On own

Friday, May 27
In Rome – Full day excursion to Pompeii

Saturday, May 28
In Rome – On own

Sunday, May 29
In Rome – On own

Monday, May 30
Transfer to the Airport for flight home (for those on the Air & Land Package)

Accommodations in Florence

Alex House Hostel – Via Borgo Dei Greci 13 Florence Italy just 5 minutes from the Duomo Cathedral and only half minute from Piazza Santa Croce with the wonderful Santa Croce Church.

Accommodations in Rome

Saint John’s University housing. The St. John’s Rome Campus features a residence hall, located on its top two floors. Services include: 24/7 residence staff, 24/7 security guard at the entrance, cleaning of common areas, bed linens and towels, wireless internet and 24/7 access to the computer lab, community kitchens, and washers and dryers. The residence is a short walk to Vatican City and is located in the very safe Prati neighborhood, noted for its excellent shopping and dining locations.
