ITINERARY
Monday, January 6 – Travel to Kenya
9:00am – Arrive at Airport
Students go through check-in and security. Meet the group at the gate. Adelphi has reserved a ticket block for all students. A copy of your ticket is in your orientation folder. Students are responsible for their own transportation to JFK Airport.
12:00pm – Group Flight Kenya Airways #003 direct from JFK to Nairobi
Tuesday, January 7 – Arrive in Nairobi
10:30am – Group Flight arrives in Nairobi
A bus will transport the group from the airport to the lodgings. The trip will take approximately 30 minutes.
TBD – Arrive and check in at guest house
Grace House Resort, Chania Avenue, Off Ring Rd Kilimani Next to Yaya Centre, Nairobi, Kenya
TBD – Lunch at Yaya Mall
Students will travel via van to the mall and eat on their own and at their own expense.
TBD – Introductory Meeting at the Guest House
6:30pm – Welcome Dinner at HOME
Students will be picked up at the guest house
Wednesday, January 8 – Work Day
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
9:00am – Morning Meeting
Adelphi professors lead a discussion session to discuss the day’s activities.
10:00 – Leave for Wangige Children’s Home and School
Students will tour of the home and school and meet the community.
Lunch – Group lunch at the Home
This meal is included in the program cost.
Afternoon – Group discussion about projects.
6:30pm – Group Dinner
This meal is included in the program cost.
Thursday, January 9 – Work Day
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Wangige
Morning Service Projects at the Home/School
Lunch – Group lunch at the Home
This meal is included in the program cost.
Afternoon – Service Projects at the Home/School
4:30pm – Group travels back to the guest house
5:45pm – Focus Group
Adelphi professors lead a discussion session to discuss the day’s activities.
6:30pm – Group Dinner with a Kenyan Family
This meal is included in the program cost.
Friday, January 10
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport Nairobi City Tour and Animal Orphanage
All entries are included in the program fee.
Lunch – Group will eat a simple lunch at a local restaurant.
This meal is included in the program cost.
Afternoon – Visit to Bomas of Kenya
Entry to Bomas of Kenya is included in the program fee. Students will be introduced to local cultures, dances and art.
TBD – Group travels back to the Guest House
Free Evening – Students eat dinner on their own at their own expense
Saturday, January 11
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to National Park.
Morning – Nairobi National Park
Entry fee to the National Park is included in the program cost. The National Park is home to more than 100 mammal species, including buffalo, giraffes, lions, leopards, baboons, zebra, wildebeest and cheetah.
Lunch – Students eat lunch on their own and at their own expense at the National Park.
Afternoon – Giraffe Centre
Founded in 1970, the Giraffe Centre is a giraffe rescue center and educational institution.
TBD – Group travels back to the guest house
Free Evening – Students eat dinner on their own at their own expense
Sunday, January 12
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
Free Day – Students have a free day to rest.
Students are on their own for all meals at their own expense.
Afternoon – Optional visit to the mall.
Free Evening – Students eat dinner on their own at their own expense
Monday, January 13
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Wangige
Morning – Finalize group projects
Lunch – Group lunch at the Home
This meal is included in the program cost.
Afternoon – Finalize group projects
4:30pm – Group travels back to the guest house
5:45pm – Focus Group

Dinner – Group Dinner
This meal is included in the program cost.
Tuesday, January 14
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Wangige
Morning – Visit to public schools in Kibiku and Wangige
Lunch – Group lunch at the Home
This meal is included in the program cost.
Afternoon – Visit to public schools in Kibiku and Wangige
4:30pm – Group travels back to the guest house
5:45pm – Focus Group
Adelphi professors lead a discussion session to discuss the day’s activities.
6:30pm – Group Dinner
This meal is included in the program cost.
Wednesday, January 15
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Wangige
Morning – Finalize group projects
Lunch – Group lunch at the Home
This meal is included in the program cost.
Afternoon – Visit to a local Health Clinic
This health clinic is run and supported by German doctors and where the children living at the HOME receive medical treatment.
4:30pm – Group travels back to the guest house
5:45pm – Focus Group
Adelphi professors lead a discussion session to discuss the day’s activities.
Dinner – Students eat dinner on their own
Thursday, January 16 – Day in Rift Valley
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Great Rift Valley
It will take approximately 3 hours to travel to the Great Rift Valley.
Day in Rift Valley – Explore the Great Rift Valley.
The Rift Valley is a stretch of land extending more than 3500 miles across the Middle East and Africa with extraordinary geographic diversity and unforgettable landscapes.
Lunch – Group lunch at a local restaurant
Afternoon – Further exploration of the Great Rift Valley
4:30pm – Group travels back to the guest house
Dinner – Students eat dinner on their own
Friday, January 17
Breakfast – Students eat the complimentary guest house breakfast on their own and check out of guest house.
TBD – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Wangige
Morning – Farewell party with students at the Home
Lunch – Farewell Lunch at the Home
Free Afternoon – Students should rest and pack for departure
6:00pm (TBC) – Meet in guest house lobby for transport to Nairobi airport.
Be ready to go with your luggage. Students need to be at the airport three hours before departure. It will take about one hour to drive to the airport, and could be longer with traffic.
7:55pm – Arrival at Nairobi Airport & Check-in
10:55pm – Group Flight Kenya Airways #002 departs from Nairobi to JFK
Adelphi has reserved a ticket block for all students
Saturday, January 18
5:55am – Group Flight Arrives in New York
